Finlay Macrae

Photo of Finlay MacraeFinlay Macrae is a founding member (1983)  of the antecedent Leeds Castle Polyposis Group. He has had continuous membership of the LCPG and subsequently InSiGHT, with executive roles each bi-ennium. In 1999 he chaired the LCPG and held one of its final meetings (before merging with the ICGHNPCC) in Melbourne and Lorne in Victoria, and co-chaired the InSiGHT meeting Cairns in 2013.

He led the Australian arm of the CAPP2 trial  and now the CAPP3 trial of aspirin in Lynch Syndrome.

Professor Macrae instigated the merge of mismatch repair variant databases in the InSiGHT MMR database, its Variant Interpretation Committee, and the association with the Human Variome Project.

He is the lead gastroenterologist in the Familial Cancer Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, and is a member of a range of committees in Australia representing and advocating for families with GI cancers.
