Profile photo of Caroline YoungDr Caroline Young is currently a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellow writing up her PhD and is an academic pathologist on the NIHR academic Pathology Training Scheme in Leeds. Her PhD investigated the potential of the colorectal microbiome to improve screening.

She is a member of the CRUK Grand Challenge team ‘Optimisticc’ which is investigating over the next 5 years the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of the CRC-associated microbiome.

She has created an Academy of Medical Sciences Global Challenge Network co-ordinating a study investigating the microbiome of CRC patients living in non-Western countries (where the incidence of CRC is rising), a Bowel Cancer UK funded study investigating the microbiome of patients who develop CRC at a young age and is involved in the NIHR INTACT Trial.
