Rolf Sijmons

Profile photo of Rolf SijmonsRolf Sijmons is a consultant clinical geneticist with more than 30 years of professional experience. He is Professor of Medical Translational Genetics at the Department of Genetics, University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands.

His main clinical and research interests are familial and hereditary cancer, the mainstreaming of genetics and applied informatics. He teaches the Groningen medical and life sciences curriculum and lectures on genetics topics nationally and internationally.

He is board member of the Dutch Colorectal Cancer Group, one of the curators of the international InSiGHT database on mismatch repair (MMR) gene mutations and a member of the InSiGHT MMR UV interpretation committee and of the Dutch national initiative to classify MMR gene variants INVUSE.

He is the editor of the Familial Cancer Database, communicating editor for the journal Human Mutation, and one of the three founders of the journal Hereditary Cancer in Clinical Practice.
